Amazon facing strike over pay in Germany

The company Amazon are looking to be facing a strike over their most busiest time in the year being Christmas. The reason behind the strike is that Amazon workers are claiming that they are under paid and the description of what they are told and by Amazon is wrong, for example what they are being paid to do. The strike will also include employees who believe they deserve more money as they are being well underpaid for what they are doing. The secretary of German services union has said that Amazon shouldn't rely on being able to keep all their promises to customers before Christmas as, the union could call strikes at times which is going to hurt amazon the most. Furthermore Amazon have said that they wages they pay are average wages that most companies would pay for this certain job description, which contains jobs such as storage, packaging and dispatch of goods. leading to this a strike had already taken place in September and June by employees due to wages however, Amazon claimed that the strike had not affected their customers. The German union Verdi has around 2.2 million members which they have stated they are attempted to force Amazon to negotiate and change their wage agreement with all their employees. Although their is no actual plan set of when this strike is going to take place and that Amazon employ over 9,000 in Germany, it does not seem to have affected them as they are planning to open five new centers in Poland and Czech Republic.
