Doctor Who gains in consolidated Christmas Day TV ratings
Doctor
Who was broadcasted to the audience one week after Christmas day broadcasting
the show to be the festive special over the Christmas period. The show managed
to generate views of 3 million. Doctor Who increased their viewers from 8.3
million to 11.1 million which was published by the BBC on Thursday. The reason
for the increase was due to the audience who have watched the show late,
therefore providing seven days extra to calculate the views of Doctor Who.
Doctor Who seems to be a show which is more popular on BBC Iplayer rather than
a live show.
1. Mrs Brown's Boys, BBC1 11.52
million, 36.3% (9.4m, 35.5%)
2. Doctor Who, BBC1 11.14m, 35.33 (8.3m, 30.7%)
3. Coronation Street, ITV 9.82m, 30.9% (8.3m, 30.7%)
4. Downton Abbey, ITV 9.41m, 30.2% (7m, 27%)

10. The Queen, BBC1 5.82m, 35.3% (5.7m, 36.2%)
BBC
looked to be in control over the Christmas period as they were able to generate
the 1st and 2nd place spots with their shows. However the
only downfall which came from this period was that EastEnders were not able to
generate as much views as they had first expected. EastEnders which is normally
the most popular show on Christmas day fell short, also critics labelled this year’s
EastEnders to not live up to the expectations of the audience. This may be due
to the excitement they normally bring on Christmas days over the past years.
EastEnders will also be very disappointed to have lost out to rival show
Coronation Street which is broadcasted on ITV near enough the same time as
EastEnders therefore, creating a rivalry between the two soaps.
